We are truly empty nesters now! We’ll have to think of ‘fun with a vengence’ activities to do now . . . like to go Bali . . .Bermuda . . .

The garden shed now has the final coat of paint. The hot tub base has been painted.
Have I mentioned that I really don’t like to paint . . .???

Yesterday morning, we were up at the crack of dawn to finish digging out underneath the swings so that we can put in the final load of mulch. We were emptying the last load of dirt into the ditch out front (that we are slowly filling in because we no longer need it) when our neighbors stopped by to chat. They chatted with us for an hour. Which put us behind.
Craig wanted to prime the garden shed for painting in the cool part of the morning. But because we chatted with our good friends, it was too hot to paint. So, we decided to trim the honeysuckle vine and climbing roses on our trellis on the back patio.
As we were trimming out the dead parts, I noticed that the greenery was at the end of vines that were dead looking except for the ends. If we took away all of the dead looking stuff, we would have a funny looking lump of green on the ends of the vines and bare for the rest of the vine. I suggested we just rip down the whole thing. Craig agreed.
It ended up being a bigger job than we anticipated.
Here’s the score:
Craig: 3
Hornets: 0
(It’s always nice when the underdog wins!)
Nina:0
Climbing roses: 10
I never really did care for roses . . .
Here’s a look of the tearing down process:

It was amazing the amount of stuff that was on the trellis. In some places it was a foot thick. (The honeysuckle vine had been growing for a long time. . . )
Once again, Craig said he didn’t want to be on my landscaping crew . . .
